Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Homevis ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information when you use our website, design studio and tradie matching services. It applies to website visitors, homeowners and tradespeople in our network.

1. What We Collect

From homeowners, we collect the details you enter yourself: your name, email address, phone number, suburb, and the details of your renovation project, including the photos you upload, the design brief built from your answers, the renovation size and scope you enter for a cost estimate, and the designs generated for you.

From tradespeople applying to join our network, we collect your business email address, phone number, suburb, QBCC licence number, ABN, public liability insurer and policy number, trade type, and the kinds of renovation work you take on.

We also record basic account information needed to operate a login, such as your encrypted password and the dates your account was created and last used.

When you visit our website, we collect information about how you use it through Google Analytics, such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser type, and your approximate location, which is worked out from your IP address. Section 7 explains how this works and how to opt out.

2. Sharing Your Details With Tradespeople

This is the most important disclosure in this policy, so it is stated plainly rather than in general terms:

When you submit your contact details to be matched with tradespeople, we share your name, phone number, postcode, and project details with the tradespeople you are matched with. We do not sell your information to unrelated third parties.

Your project may be shared with more than one tradesperson. Where a lead is shared, it is sent to a maximum of three tradespeople. Tradespeople pay Homevis for the leads they receive, which is how we keep the design studio free for homeowners. Contact does not guarantee availability or that a job will be completed, and Homevis does not guarantee the quality of work performed by any matched tradesperson.

Tradespeople receive your details so they can contact you about your specific project. They are not permitted to use your details for unrelated marketing, and we do not provide your details to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for marketing purposes.

3. Why We Collect It

We use your information to operate your account, generate your renovation previews, produce your cost estimate, match your project with tradespeople who service your area and do your type of work, respond to your enquiries, protect sign-up and sign-in from automated abuse, understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it, and meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

4. Who Else Handles Your Data

We use third-party service providers to run the site. These include our database and authentication provider, our image generation provider (which processes the photos and brief you submit in order to return a preview), our website host, and our form and email providers. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We also use two services that handle data under their own privacy policies: Google, which provides Google Analytics, and hCaptcha, which checks that people signing up or signing in are not bots.

Some of our providers may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States.

5. How Long We Keep It

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. Project details and generated designs are retained so you and any matched tradesperson can refer back to them. If you close your account or ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

6. Your Choices

You can ask us at any time to stop sharing your details with tradespeople, to correct information that is wrong, or to delete your account and the information attached to it. Contact us via the Contact page and we will action your request.

If you have already been matched, we can stop future sharing, but we cannot recall details already provided to a tradesperson. You are never obliged to engage any tradesperson who contacts you.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics at any time, as explained in section 7.

7. Cookies, Analytics and Browser Storage

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how visitors use our website, such as which pages are viewed most and where visitors come from, so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_2Q3MZ40G7C) that tell one browser apart from another and can last up to two years. We use this information in aggregate reports and do not use it to identify you.

We have turned off Google signals and advertising personalisation in our Google Analytics setup, so this data is not used for advertising. We do not run advertising pixels, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

When you sign in, our authentication provider saves a session token in your browser's local storage so that you stay signed in. On pages with a sign-up or sign-in form, hCaptcha may set its own cookies to help tell people and bots apart.

To opt out of Google Analytics, block cookies for this site in your browser settings or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The website works normally without analytics cookies.

8. Security

Passwords are stored encrypted and are never visible to us. Homeowner contact details shown to tradespeople in our lead table are masked in the database until a tradie account has been manually approved. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

9. Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact Us

For any question about this policy or about the information we hold on you, get in touch via the Contact page. Our Terms of Service set out the rest of the agreement between us.
